Deputy Inspector General of Malawi Police Services (DIG) responsible
for Operations Duncan Mwapasa has unilateral interdicted the forty police
office providing security to Vice President Saulosi Chilima The Eagle Eye can
reveal.
The forty have been interdicted on half pay with immediate
effect.
This means Mwapasa has defied the court order the victims obtained
restraining the disciplinary hearing set for Wednesday January 9, 2019.
In legal terms, Mwapasa who ironically came from interdiction
in 2014 and become outgoing president Peter Mutharika’s first guard commander
is in contempt of a competent court ruling.
Mwapasa who is also at the center of the infamous food
ration scandal that saw Mutharika paying back MK145 million to Karim of pioneer
investments had a meeting at Kamuzu Place Tuesday January 8, 2019.
Mwapasa and his friend of Zimatha Executive lodge Norman
Paulosi Chisale are resolved to take away Chilima’s security soon barely a day after
arresting two of his personal assistants Valera and Unyolo.
What is surprising though is the fact that Mwapasa came from
interdiction to find his way to the second top police post.
He was arrested in connection to the mid night case where
Mutharika, alongside six others were arrested for blocking a constitutional
requirement for Joyce Banda to assume presidency following the death of
President Bingu wa Mutharika.
Mwapasa made the decision bypassing his Boss Inspector
General Rodney Jose. More details to follow.
